Kindergarten
Students discover the joy of learning through a would child approach to learning. Parents discover the value of partnering with teachers and staff.
Love of Learning Begins in Kindergarten
Kindergarten is so much more than a child’s first year of school. It is where a lifelong love of learning begins. It is where children discover the joy of learning, build friendships with classmates and teachers, and begin to understand God’s never-ending love for them.
When you walk through the doors of Halton Hills Christian School, you’ll quickly notice something special. Our Kindergarten classrooms are filled with curiosity, laughter, and excitement as children explore God’s world through hands-on learning, play, and meaningful relationships. Every day is thoughtfully designed to help students grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually to lay a strong foundation for the years ahead.

Learning Through Play and Real-life Experiences
We believe children learn best when they are actively engaged. Purposeful play, exploration of real-life experiences and solving real-life problems are woven throughout every day. As children explore their world through these avenues they develop confidence while building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking.
Our Kindergarten program includes:
- Early literacy using research-based programs including UFLI Foundations, Jolly Phonics, and Handwriting Without Tears
- Hands-on math experiences guided by the Jump Math framework
- Theme studies and project-based learning that encourage curiosity and real-world problem solving
- Bible learning integrated throughout the day
- Music, physical education, outdoor learning, and opportunities to learn through play
As students explore and discover God’s world through hands-on learning and relevant real-life projects, they begin to recognize His creativity, order, and care in all they learn. They also discover that God has created each of them with unique gifts and the ability to serve others and make a meaningful difference.

Growing Hearts
Our goal is to nurture the whole child. We want students to grow not only in what they know, but also in who God created them to be.
Kindergarten is where children begin learning to love God, love others, and understand themselves as uniquely created in God’s image. Through daily classroom experiences, conversations, and opportunities to learn alongside one another, students learn to:
- build healthy friendships
- recognize and manage their emotions
- show kindness and empathy
- solve problems respectfully
- develop confidence and resilience
- celebrate both their own growth and the successes of others
We intentionally cultivate a growth mindset, helping children understand that learning takes practice and that “not yet” is an important part of the journey.
A Partnership with Families
We believe children thrive when home and school work together. When children feel supported both at home and at school, they are free to take risks, build confidence, discover their strengths, and grow in their own unique way.
Teachers share updates about school and classroom life in a weekly newsletter that keeps families connected to what their children are learning and experiencing. Parent-teacher conferences, parenting seminars, volunteer opportunities, and shared educational goals provide meaningful ways for families and teachers to work together and strengthen the partnership between home and school.
We look forward to sharing how Kindergarten at Halton Hills Christian School provides a strong foundation for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and faith. Together, we can help your child flourish academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually.
